Where do you get your coffee?

Our coffee is curated and procured from all over Latin America. We introduce coffee from a new region or country each month to share the best coffee Latin America has to offer. México, Colombia, Brasil, and beyond, our coffee story cards provide information about the various regions we source from. Also, feel free to reach out and ask us!

Is your coffee fair-trade?

Our dedication to ethical coffee practices is at the heart of our business, evident in every coffee we curate for our subscribers.

The fair-trade initiative has been transformative in guaranteeing fair compensation for large-scale coffee growers and producers, particularly in commodity-grade coffee, where traditionally, the cost and quality were lower.

The burgeoning market for specialty-grade coffee, representing the top 5% in quality, has surged demand and prices for exceptional coffee. This shift has resulted in significantly higher earnings for farmers specializing in this high-grade coffee. While there are still wage challenges for a minority of these growers, we proudly collaborate exclusively with farms that offer wages surpassing fair-trade standards. This commitment not only embodies ethical practice but also fosters continual investment in the quality of coffee.

This approach creates a cycle of positive outcomes: farmers are motivated to enhance coffee quality and sustainable practices. Simultaneously, we all contribute to and relish in the excellence of quality coffee, year after year.

How fresh is the coffee?

We take freshness seriously, so every batch of our coffee is roasted right when you order it! Our team gets to work each morning, ensuring your coffee is roasted hours or minutes before it's shipped.

Our coffee is so fresh that we suggest a seven-day waiting period before brewing. This time allows the coffee to degas properly, enhancing its flavor. Conveniently, this degassing period aligns seamlessly with our shipping time, guaranteeing you receive your coffee at its peak freshness. Salúd! Cheers!

Should the coffee have a vacuum seal?

You might observe that our coffee packages aren't vacuum-sealed. This is because our process of roasting coffee to order makes vacuum sealing unnecessary. Vacuum sealing is typically used for coffee that sits on grocery store shelves for weeks or months.

By choosing our freshly roasted coffee, you're getting a product at the pinnacle of freshness, not something roasted over a month ago. This ensures you enjoy the freshest coffee experience with every cup!

Do you flavor the coffee?

In our coffee, you'll find only one ingredient: coffee itself. We do not add any artificial flavors, ensuring a pure and authentic coffee experience.

Why are my coffee beans dry and not an oily consistency?

It's completely normal and expected for your coffee beans to be dry. A dry texture is not indicative of poor quality; in fact, coffee beans should be dry for most roast types, except the very dark roasts. The texture of the bean, whether dry or oily, isn't a measure of its freshness.

What are the tasting notes you list?

The tasting notes we list represent the unique flavors identified in each coffee. These can range from vanilla to almond, orange, berry, chocolate, and many more. Similar to wine, coffee offers a rich spectrum of tastes. Interestingly, coffee possesses over 800 aromatic and flavor compounds, surpassing wine, which has around 200.

How much coffee comes in each bag?

Our coffee comes exclusively in 12 oz bags, ideal for monthly and gift subscriptions. Each 12 oz bag serves about 30 cups of coffee.

Do you offer decaf?

While we currently do not offer decaf, we have plans for a decaf offering in the future.

What roast types do you offer?

Almost all our coffee selections are medium roast, which we find offers a balanced and rich flavor profile that appeals to a wide range of coffee enthusiasts. However, each year, we also feature a special edition coffee with a medium roast type variation, either medium-dark or medium-light, adding a unique twist to our offerings. This annual special roast is an excellent opportunity for those looking to explore different taste nuances within the coffee spectrum.

Do you offer ground coffee?

Yes, you can select ground coffee on the plan selection page.

What is your return policy?

We do not accept returns or offer refunds on our coffee. This is due to the perishable nature of coffee and our commitment to freshness. Once coffee is roasted, it begins to lose its flavor over time; therefore, we cannot restock it once it's been shipped.

However, you can cancel your subscription anytime, provided you give us a 48-hour notice before your next scheduled shipment. We understand that sometimes plans change, so we'll do our best to accommodate cancellation requests with shorter notice. However, we cannot guarantee the ability to stop an order with less than 48 hours notice due to the automated nature of our fulfillment process.
